All the vegetable in the cabbage family come from the same plant with all
part edibles. Each one had one part of the plant privileged to get bigger
than in the wild plant. The swollen root became the " chou rave" ( i don't
know the english name) the stem became the kolhrabi, the leaves gave birth
to cabbage or savoy , the flower buds made brocoli or cauliflower, each one
of thoses vegetables have been selected for their redness or greeness( they
come red or green ). the domesticated vegetal of that family , the closest
to the wild ancestor ( still existing on sea shore) is called russian kale
and is certainly the most nutritious of all and again you can eat any part
of that plant but they will be tougher, stonger tasting and not giant
looking. "The young flowers of kale are specially delicious
this plant is easely grown and will reseed it self abundantly and can stand
frost. here we can eat it year round (west coast of canada)
