First of all, I'm not sure that our medical and aesthetic ideas of
"perfect" weight have anything to do with the reality of our bodies
"ideal" state... But even if they're appropriate for someone with an
ideal metabolism, who has never added significant amounts of excess fat,
I feel that it is probably inappropriate to try to apply them to those
who have already been "overweight." We have to remember that when fat is
added, new fat CELLS are created, and short of surgery, those fat cells
are FOREVER. You can reduce their size by emptying them out, but they
will ALWAYS be there. That being the case, I question whether it's
realistic to try to get rid of the excess "flab" at all...
