Hi Joanne,
I'm also spina bifida and my sphincter muscles were paralyzed, which hold the
bladder shut, so I'm therefore incontinent. After YEARS of diapers, pads,
permanent caths and leg bags - at age 16 I had urostomy surgery. The surgery
itself was a tough go, but, I have less trouble with my stoma than I ever did in
all the other methods I used. Right now my work insurance covers my ostomy
supplies at 100%, surprisingly enough. Ostomy supplies are expensive, for sure,
but I'm coming up on 40, very soon now, and am glad I had the surgery.
See ya
Beth
