To whoever asked me about why a woman had the right to abort a pregnancy
instead of having a baby and putting it up for adoption... (Sorry, but I
hit the delete button instead of reply by accident, and I can't remember
who it was).
First, all unwanted pregnancies are not the result of unprotected sex.
Some women take all precautions, and still end up pregnant. Even the
most effective methods of birth control (except abstinence) are only 98%
effective. Should they suffer for a mistake? I don't think so. Then,
there's the issue of rape and incest. Should a woman be forced to
suffer a reminder of her trauma for nine months? I don't think so.
Then, some women can't physically sustain a pregnancy. Is it right to
sacrifice the life of a functional human being, on whom people depend,
for the mere potential of what a fetus might become? I don't think so.
Speaking of potential, my religion (Judaism) says that life is not
considered such until it touches outside air. Everyone's definition and
beliefs are different, and we can not restrict what other people can and
cannot do because of what we believe.
