Welcome!
This list was originally created as a schism or spinoff from
Preservation-L. Most of us (on BP) remain subscribed to both lists. So
branching from Preservation-L to BP is a very natural route to take.

There are, as you may already have noticed, a number of other architects
in this conversation (more about that word below), but probably not the
majority. The others include stonemasons and carpenters, historians,
journalists and HP bureaucrats. Don't be confused by affectionate titles
like "Shaman," "Cod", "Sharpshooter", "Rev", "Humor Czar", etc.
I mention the word "conversation" because it seems to be the Next Big
Buzzword, at least in university and local government settings here in
Michigan, and probably most everywhere. "The budget process" has morphed
into "The conversation about the budget." The metaphorical "Having a seat
at the table" is now "Taking part in the conversation." Not "a"
conversation, but "the" conversation.
