Mike Davidson asked about chainsaw use at Cooper Union:
Mike, the famous chainsaw is being used to cut out large areas of
sandstone for dutchman repairs on ashlar, columns and pilasters.
It was used to cut off a very large stringcourse (instead of using
feathers and wedges). The sandstone is very rough on the blade ($500
bucks a pop). The saw itself seems to break down alot. The contractor
swears by it though as a time saver. Its great for making plunge cuts as
deep as 15".
See you soon,
