When we lived in Brooklyn, my son's room had a door, and the bathroom had a
door. A friend informed us that we really had a closet with a shower
curtain in it. It was the ONLY privacy any of us had!
>>Im not sure where all this is going but when I lived on East tenth bet 2nd
and first not only did we have a polite pot salesman for a un -official
doorman but the bathtub was in the kitchen and when it was time for dinner you
pulled out a sheet a plywood and Viola (as they say in Hoboken) you had a
dining room table all ready for the checkered table cloth and candlelabra
I paid two bills a month there for several years I understand you now get
the same cocharoches for 1500, I think Guilliani got rid of the doorman...
..I understand they discovered or unearthed a two story privy down on or about
varick street dating from the 1840's..
..I unearthed a 19 th cent Privy in new Hampshire and found it full of small
corn pones( also broken clay pipes and snuff bottles) which I was told
predated toilet paper; any research on this ? The oldest privy I ever saw was
on the Greek Island of Thera seat of the Minoan culture and most possible site
of Plato's Atlantis...it was a two seater on the second floor of the recently
discovered city(1958) of Achatheri (sp?) ..no corn pones were found..however
...so perhaps it is suspect...corning.live from the throne room ..Michael
