how is slash was the convention going slash gone?

how did it go with the state's webmaster (quite an impressive title, if you ask
me)

as for PDF, tell them not to use it -- but that if they feel they must, then
(if they truly wish to be ADA compliant) they must also not only convert the
PDF file from PDF into plain ASCII (and, optimally, hypertext), but to go
through the converted document carefully, comparing it to the original, to
ensure that when formatting, font, and color changes are used to convey meaning
or used representationally, that a textual equivalent of the information
conveyed via graphical slash visual means is provided...  the problem with PDF
(aside from the fact that it is a picture) is that it is a visual markup
medium, which means that people who create documents with it tend to create
documents that appeal to the sense of sight...  therefore, a straight
conversion is bound to leave out significant content, which is why it is
imperative that if they use PDF, that the converted document be closely
compared to the original, so that all of the meaning conveyed via visual cues
can be transposed into textual ones...
