Just a geuss, but it does sound like dirty optics on your CD-R Drive or SCSI
controller may need to be reconfigured. Is your CD-R Drive
terminated ? I had a HP CD-R on a Advan-Sys SCSI card and the
instructions stated to setup a solo device as ID#4. Something to
consider.

Also, I heard or read something about certain chipsets (VIA or ALI)
have problems with certain brands of SCSI cards. Hopefully, someone
has better specifics.
