I had an old monitor which had the same symptoms.
I got rid of it and bought a used one from an ad in the
newspaper for $50. It has worked fine for 2 years. Keep
looking in local newspapers, pawn shops, etc. You'll find
one.

486sx-25 system someone gave me.The problem is that it only
displays for 5 to 10 minutes before the brightness
fades. When I got it the brightness slide bar was set to max.
I ran norton diagnostics and it determined that the color
red was bad.Is there anything I can do(dont worry, I'm not
going to open the monitor)or should I just lay this thing to
rest?Thanks for any replies.
