Hi Jim,

I'm sorry to hear about your predicament and
hope we can help.
Anycase, after searching the MS knowledgebase
for SUWIN and related this is what I turned up.

One mentioned a SUWIN error being caused by
booting from the OEM( the win98 floppy included
with your cd) floppy and having the wrong date in
CMOS.

A second mentioned having a the Win98 cd loaded
while booting from a OEM floppy could cause an error.

A third stated you can get the error if you saved files
to the desktop prior to uninstalling Win98 on reboot.

The rest were specific to getting the error while
running windows especially if you had upgraded
from one version of windows to the next.

Personally, when I run into something like this, I
always try another bootdisk.

You probally already know this, but just as a
reminder keep in mind Windows is not backward
compatible in regards to FAT32. In other words,
FAT32 partitions created by a Win95 fdisk/format
can not be correctly accessed by using a Win95b/
Win98 boot disks. I don't know for sure about 98/
8SE compatibility on this issue.

And lastly, the errors generated by a win installer are
often related to previous installation problems
detected. Meaning, since you've partitioned there
shouldn't be any prior record except what's on the
boot disk. Hope something here helps and good luck.
