In a message dated 00-02-29 19:02:28 EST, you write:

<< biblio and mx have the same book with
something written on the front page (maybe another personal opnion about the
author this time written by his BP pals). >>

More likely, they are the "personally inscribed books" I sweated over (quick:
write a memorable remark in someone's book only 2 seconds after you've met
them!) at a book signing a few years ago. Are they marked over list, or
under? Does my signature increase the value - or depress it?

Sure, the screwed up copy is yours baby - come and pick it up, and while
you're at it, come pick up those books that Leland "Oh yeah really soon"
Torrence never came to get. I recently gave away $12,000 in books and it
was a total energy sink - next time they're going into the shredder (hmm,
maybe they could cover the rough spots on the floor).
