Earth Tone Ordinary Dictionary

Dan,

A brief visit to Barnes & Noble reference section may do the trick.

Miriam-Webster Collegiate Dictionary, 10th ed. -- earth tone: noun (1973) any
of various rich colors containing some brown.

The American Heritage College Dictionary, 3rd ed. -- earth tone: n., any of
various rich warm tones of brown.

I prefer the first definition as the second is recursive with warm tone used
to define earth tone.
