Dear List-Serve Members,

I had made a point of having my RX's checked for gluten by the local
pharmacies. I was a bit curious because none of my prescriptions had ever
been rejected. I had also made the gf notation on my profile for our
health insurance pharmacy plan -Merck-Medco. Now they have a great web site
(www.Merck-Medco.com) with room for feed-back. I wrote and asked them to
check their formulary for gluten-containing drugs. I got a follow-up phone
call within hours of making my request. They are in the process of calling
drug manufacturers (at least that is what the pharmacist said). I think
calling their attention to the estimated prevalence of celiacs in the US as
close to 1 in 300 may have caught their attention.

I will follow through with them in a few weeks if I don't hear any more. It
just seemed like a good way to help weed out the gluten containing drugs.
Maybe if all our "members" who ordered on-line would put a feed-back note to
their personal suppliers, we might get a better response - and feel more
confident that our meds aren't making us sicker.
