compression problem, using dos to open a compressed drive.

I have a compressed file (drive) which I can not get to mount. I want to be
able to get some of the files out of it so I can reform the hardrive and go
to Linux OS. I can not open DriveSpace.001 is there a way I can "pull" out
some of the files I need. Mostly e-mails that I have no other record of.
Hardrive is one gig. Drvspace 001 is 1,045,785,600. oops! Laptop is a EZ730CS
CTX.
Its an old one I want to reformat the hardrive so I can convert it over to
linux.
