my son will soon be going to the GI for a biopsy. last sun. night
(10/17/99) we started a gluten/casien free diet. the reason why? he
has a dx in the spectrum of autism. we are participating in a study
where they test the blood for reaction to gluten & casein. his scores
were high so we put him on G/C free diet. th GI (who we were seeing for
constipation and slow growth) sd because of the results he would do a
biopsy. we immediatly took him off the diet (he was on it for 5 days).
questions : will being on the diet for only 5 days still alter the
results of the test? he's had constipation since he started solids
(he's 6 yrs old now), abdominal cramping for the last yr or so (i
started making whole wheat bread), and his growth has been normal until
the last yr when it slowed - is any of this normal? are we on the right
track? can gluten be absorbed thru the skin, as in play-doh (he doesn't
eat it), or lotions, etc?
Thank you, beth [log in to unmask]
