Subject: Re: Patterning by the Center for Human Potential

To my knowledge there is "good" research to substanciate the claims
from the patterning program- just some isolated case studies. All
children I've seen continue with traditional therapy as well, so it's
hard to attribute the gains to only the patterning techniques. I have
several families who went through the program to great intensity only to
be very disappointed, burned out and broke.
One family wrote a book called, "No time for Jello- One families
experiences with the Doman-Delacato Patterning Program" by Berneen Bratt
ISBN # 0-914797-56-5 by Brookline Books. This is about their
experiences. It includes in the appendix a review of the literature.
Every family should read this book before making any committments to
this program
Another woman with cerebral palsy was able to tell her life story with
assistive technology. She participated in the Domain Delacato Patterning
program as a child and gives her account of this program. He book is
called "The bird with a broken wing" by Sue Ann Easley ISBN #
0-938252-01-4 by Lavender Publishing Co.
I suggest families look at these two books and not just talk to the
families that say it benefits their child. It is a very intense
program- draining on the families and really cuts into the usual family
routines and fun. Few people have found it to be worth the effort.
Ask for good quality research supporting this treatment. I have searched
and not found any.
