Your eyes aren't deceiving you <g>.  Windows 98 was released prior to the
PIII chip.  This was supposedly fixed in Windows 98SE.  If you can learn to
"deal" with this annoyance, you will be happier.  FWIW, when I first got my
PIII 500, I was just as concerned until I went to a forum on Intel's web
site and found out the above info.  HTH. :-)
