I had an epidemic with Toshiba 8-speed CDs a few years ago. After cleaning
the heads, reinstalling the drivers, putting the drives on as Master, then
Slave I finally resolved to not use the Toshiba any longer. I'm sure that
the later ones don't have the same problems; however, the issues with not
reading a Disc that was being read fine on another machine but not on the
Toshiba was a real problem.
I also had problems with CDR media on the Toshibas not being read.
