According to Rosemary Waring, of Birmingham University (UK),
almost all autistic people have chronically low stomach HCl
output. This contributes to the problem of undigested protein
and its consequences.
If your son can swallow a capsule, you might want to think about
supplementation with Betaine HCl. This has a twofold effect: It
supplements the HCl in the stomach (use before a meal) and the
other breakdown product is trimethylglycine, which supports liver
function.
I run a list (dormant lately) dedicated to discussion of
physiological issues related to autism. Write to me if you are
interested.
