Diana's post reminds me of a question I've wanted to ask for a long time.
As far as I understand, the lactose used in medication is refined
medical-grade pure lactose.
Does it, even so, contain enough protein residues to create symptoms in
sensitive people?
If it does, it is only certain types of allergies - casein only, whey only -
that are affected?
What are the common symptoms from a med reaction?
Are children more susceptible than adults?
Are certain types/brands/categories of meds more likely to create symptoms?
Have you or those in your family had actual reactions or are you just
avoiding lactose in meds as a policy of extreme caution?
I'd be interested in - and grateful for - any information and anecdotes you
have on this subject.
Thanks,
Steve Carper
