YOU HAVE TO THINK BIG TO BE BIG...

Your aspirations are your possibilities.
You will become as small as your controlling desire,
or as great as your dominant aspiration.

High achievement always takes place
in the framework of high expectation.
Your mind stretched to a new idea
will never go back to its original dimensions.

Think little goals and expect little achievements.
Think big goals and win big success.

The first ingredient of success is to dream a great dream.

Dear Editor,

I have started a fundraiser for my daughter who has CP.
I'm trying to raise money to buy a converted van. I have
a document that I mailed out about seven hundread copies of.
We have gotten okay results so far but I would love to have
an organization to stand beside us durning this process.
I have tried UCP and other organizations to no evail. The
Lion's Club is interested and will get back to me next week.
I'm basically wondering if you could offer any advice or
guidence on how we can possibly reach our goal.

This is the third time I've emailed and I'm looking forward
to hearing from you. If you respond I will gladly send you
a copy of our document. Thank you for your time,
Kristen Hill

WAPD NOTE: World Association of Persons with disAbilities [WAPD]
cannot sanction fund raising for personal equipment/services.
These type projects can sometimes be condoned or sponsored
by local service organizations, e.g., the Lions Club, etc.

These types of assistance are always better done on a local
level. Groups and organizations can/will be able to check the
validity and to appeal to local sources for assistance much
better than national or international organizations. WAPD has
started state and local branches to accomplish such things.

We suggest that persistence will achieve your goal. If it's
gonna be..it's up to you!

Dear Editor,

Hello everyone! I'm really pleased to be a small part of
this worthwhile project. I visited the WAPD site over 7
months ago purely looking for some disability information
to distribute to the voluntary activists groups of disabled
people I am involved with in Scotland. I enjoyed my visit
to the site and to the chat room so much so that I've become
a volunteer there.

My chat name at WAPD is:

WAPD NOTE:
Excellent full/part time avocations can be found
through very legitimate opportunities that are
offered via the medium of computers and support
of same. Though not necessarily needing computers.

World Association of Persons with disAbilities [WAPD]
has two such opportunities that especially welcome
disabled people and provide excellent long term
security. We recommend them both very highly. In fact
they are members of WAPD.

CHRONIC ILLNESS/PAIN ORGANIZATION OFFERS HOPE...

Over 49% of women who were diagnosed with breast cancer
reacted by becoming "more religious..." but where did
they find comfort and hope that realistically addressed
their pain? Rest Ministries, Inc. is the only USA
non-profit Christian organization that serves people who
live with chronic illness or pain. Through resources and
programs, such as an email support list, monthly
newsletter, and HopeKeeper small groups, people find
others who have encountered a detour in life's plans.

Rest Ministries also assists churches in ministering to
and with the 1 in 3 people in the US who live with a
chronic condition.

DISABILITY GROUPS RESIGN IN PROTEST (LONDON)...

A group of charities working for disabled people have staged
a protest against government plans to cut their benefits.

The charities - representing blind and deaf people, and
those with cerebral palsy - have resigned from a government
advisory forum in protest of new plans.

These include imposing new and stricter means tests on some
claimants.

There is also a widening revolt on the issue among Labour MPs.
Over 40 have backed amendments reversing the changes, which
will be debated in the Commons on Monday.

The groups that resigned - the Royal Institutes of the Blind
and Deaf, cerebral palsy charity Scope, mental health group
Mind and the National Association of Citizen's Advice Bureaux
- made up the Disability Benefits Consortium, a group set up
to give charities a "pivotal role" in influencing benefit
reform for the disabled.

"Backbenchers are being told that disability organisations
represented on the forum have made a `huge contribution' to
the Government's welfare reform proposals," the charities
said in a letter to Social Security Secretary Alistair Darling.

"Whether because of this or other reasons, many backbenchers
have gained the impression that we in the Forum are reasonably
happy with the Bill. We are not.

"Many of its major provisions are quite wrong in both principle
and practice."

GM Vs. Microsoft -

At a recent computer expo (COMDEX), Bill Gates reportedly
compared the computer industry with the auto industry and
stated "If GM had kept up with technology like the computer
industry has, we would all be driving twenty-five dollar
cars that got 1000 miles to the gallon."

In response to Bill's comments, General Motors issued the
following press release (By Mr. Welch himself, the GM CEO)
"If GM had developed technology like Microsoft, we would
all be driving cars with the following characteristics:

1. For no reason whatsoever your car would crash twice daily.
2. Every time they repainted the lines on the road you would
have to buy a new car.
3. Occasionally your car would die on the freeway for no reason
and you would just accept this, restart and drive on.
4. Occasionally, executing a maneuver, such as a left turn,
would cause your car to shut down and refuse to restart, in
which case you would have to reinstall the engine.
5. Only one person at a time could use the car, unless you
bought "Car95": or "CarNT." But then you would have to buy
   more seats.
6. Macintosh would make a car that was powered by the sun,
reliable, five times as fast and twice as easy to drive,
but would only run on five percent of the roads.
7. The oil, water temperature and alternator warning lights
would be replaced by one "general car default" warning light.
8. New seats would force everyone to have the same size butt.
9. The airbag system would say ("Are you sure?" before going off.
10. Occasionally for no reason whatsoever, your car would lock
you out and refuse to let you in until you simultaneously
lifted the door handle, turned the key, and grabbed hold of
    the radio antenna.
11. GM would require all car buyers to also purchase a deluxe
set of Rand McNally road maps (now a GM subsidiary), even
though they neither need nor want them. Attempting to delete
this option would immediately cause the car's performance to
diminish by 50% or more. Moreover, GM would become a target
for investigation by the Justice department.
12. Every time GM introduced a new model car, buyers would have
to learn how to drive all over again because none of the
controls would operate in the same manner as the old car.
13. You'd press the "start" button to shut off the engine.
