OK, but, if she is higher than her average grade mate, don't you think she
would be bored repeating 2nd grade? Maybe I don't quite understand the
dynamics of a mainstream class, but I would think that 2nd grade math is the
same in contained and mainstreamed. Is mainstream classes considered much
harder? Do that go at a super fast pace? Or is it because there are more
kids in the class?
If it's because they don't think she could keep up, why not suggest a class
with 2 teachers (they have that in my district, but I forget the official
name).
