Me too.  The good news is, a little residue will NOT get any flavor or
smell into other things that you put in there.  The whole drying process,
with all that air moving across the food, apparently doesn't allow odors to
soak in.  My trays are a little funky looking, but my apple chips never
taste like jerky :^) .
