If you will, let me bend your ear for a minute.
on Thursday August 31, I filled out an on-line application for shell service
with a company.
Then, I don't know what happened.
The first rejection was as follows:

Since that time, you have contacted us (as well as other parties)
using the username "avolon", which corresponds not only to the email
address that you, Nikki Brentwood are using, but also happens to be
the chosen username for the account on Rexx. In addition, Mr
Johnson's email address as listed in the application was also
"avolon". This has only served to raise further suspicion of
potential intent to commit fraud.
, he can't avoid it.

He was objecting to me using the same log-in name forall of my accounts.
I tried to assure him that was not unusual, as far as I knew.
But he was convinced that it was a third party application.
I offered him proof that it wasn't.
Then I got the last email from him, and I will quote a part of it.

I have spoken to my company lawyer this morning, and was advised to
contact the the District Atty's office in your home county, which I
have done. (There isn't a "Texas Atty General")
They refered me to the McKinny Police department and a report of
your activities was given to Officer Sun, Badge number 278. I will
let them decide what you were trying to do and what actions to take
against you.
Before you go off half-cocked, unlike what you tried to do, this
isn't a threat... I have already done it. I hadn't originally
intended to tell you at all but I wanted you to know about it so you
won't Ignore what I have to say next:

If you make any further attempt to damage the reputation of myself
personally or my company under the false pretense of being an
"unconserned individual" while in fact being engaged in the same
business as I am, I will bring charges of fraud.
You have already broken several federal laws by trying to obtain
entry to my system under false pretense, but I will leave that matter
to your local police to decide on, and handle as they see fit.
I have informed Ann of your activities and showed her the same
evidence I uncovered and have given to the police. If you harrass her
or bother her in any way or make threats against her or her mailing
list like you did to me, the full legal resourses of Rexx will come
to bear on you.
If you make any further attempt to obtain access with my systems or
make any attempt to break in, you will be prosecuted to the fullest
extent of the law.

I can understand friendly competition, but what you did was just
outright sick, in addition to being illegal. Next time you want to
drum up some business, try doing it like an honest businessman.

-Owner/Operator

I only filled out an application for his service.
I have never sold shell service. And I know very little about unix shells.
As Walt Smith, Ron Price, and several others could attest to.
So I am baffled. Any Ideas, or suggestions?
