Daniel Burton asked:
"Can someone direct me to the site containing the program that removes
all the popup ads from your browser?"
Hi Daniel,
Here's a message I posted last April:
------------------------------------------------------
There is an internet filtering program, from Siemans, called WebWasher
which can eliminate most banner ads and JavaScript pop-up windows from
your web-searches and emails. There are versions for the PC and Mac
versions of IE and Netscape. I've tried it, and it works great, but I
haven't tried it with some of the more sophisticated adaptive equipment.
The German company, Siemans, has made the program free for
non-commercial use!
WebWasher is less than 1 Mb, so it downloads quickly. There are a few
steps to the installation, but they're explained quite well, in Deutsche
and English, on the web-site.
WebWasher is explained, MUCH better, and can be downloaded from the
Siemans page at this link:
http://www.webwasher.de/en/software/wwash/download.htm
Once you download WebWasher to your hard drive, double-click on
the
installation file to install the program, and then follow the on-
screen instructions to configure WebWasher and your browser. They have
a sample page to test it when you're through.
The banner ads and pop-ups are not even downloaded, which speeds up
surfing time and eliminates many "cookies" that are sent VIA these ads.
