Alternatively, if one is not too demanding about color accuracy, one can 
also use the color identification of The vOICe Learning Edition software for
Windows-95/98/NT. This software works with a regular cheap PC camera
such as a videoconferencing camera or webcam. After pressing function
key F10, this software speaks the color name in the center of the camera 
view. Recognized colors include (dark, normal, and light) red, green, blue,
cyan, yellow, orange and magenta, as well as combination colors such 
as red-orange. The color names are spoken in a human voice.

Of course a small portable device like the $695 ColorTest device has
its own unique advantages, and the ColorTest device may be more 
accurate than the color sensed through a webcam.
