I agree. To chose the operating system just like when you buy a computer.
You will never buy anything that you do not need at this moment because
both hardware and software are changing so quick. If you have to use any
window software, just learn what you need, do not have to be bothered with
other functions or features that you are not going to use because by the
time you have learned, the new version comes. So if you like DOS, you can
still keep using it, but you may lose some benefit if you dn't care. When
you have to deal with window, don't be afraid. If there are some spots on
the screen are not accessible, don't worry. Just remember, before
PC and speech synthesisors were invented, all blind people could not read
what they wrote on the typewriter. But they could still do the paper and
got PH.D.
