Bob, You better BackUp everything now. And if you can, tell us the
details about your HD, like manufacturer/model, that way we'll be able to
keep an eye on this device for the future.

And Tom, what do you use for scanning the disk instead of ScanDisk, that
is more reliable?

    Thanks;
        Sami Garzon :)

| Personally, I don't trust scandisk, having seen it mark sectors
| as damaged on drives that, when installed in another pc, format
| has been able to recover 100% of the disk capacity.
| I don't leave out the possibility that memory, etc. is effecting
| the operating system to the extent that scandisk can not perform
| a reliable test.

| ScanDisk shows a recently installed 6.5GB HD has ten (10) bad/damaged
| sectors after less than 120 days of operation (less than 500 hours actual
| "on" time).
| ....................
| Is this drive (slowly but surely) headed for total failure?
| Opinions, ideas and suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
|
| Thank you
| Bob Deschamps
