Well, the detox phenomena is very visible in some animals when they go on a
species appropriate diet. The rawdiet list for dogs cites some good
examples. When dogs go through detox they often have diarrhea, skin
eruptions, eye mucus, etc. My dog had
a lot of gook in the corners of her eyes all her adult life (8 yrs. on
kibble). When she went "raw" she developed bumps on her neck and back that
burst (I'll spare you the details) and diarrhea that continued on and off
for about three months along with an increase in eye gook. As soon as she
adjusted to raw the bumps and diarrhea disappeared as well as the
ever-present eye gook. I think her body was releasing toxins any way it
could. Now, for the first time in her life, she is truly healthy; her coat
is beautiful and her eyes are clear and bright.

My cat had a similar experience while on cat food: she licked her tummy and
legs until they were hairless. Boy, did she ever look wierd! When she went
raw the licking became even worse for a few weeks, then the hair grew back
in and stayed in. She now has a beautiful coat and appears in perfect
health.

while the cravings went away.

Exactly what happened to me. Sugar cravings stopped after the 1st three
months.
