Let's suppose you want to get a lot of nutrition from meats. A
pound and a half of beef will yield about 1,600 calories; other
meats will have similar yields. If you shop carefully you can
get that much meat for about $5. That almost uses up your weekly
budget, but you can get some fruits and veggies with the
remaining money. Nuts are expensive by the pound, but not by
calorie.
