Specific Carbohydrate Diet. It's based on the book _Breaking the
Vicious Cycle: Intestinal Health through Diet_ by Elaine Gottschall.
In a nutshell, it's a diet recommended (although not widely known nor
accepted by the medical community) to sufferers of Crohn's disease,
ulcerative colitis, and other conditions characterized by acute
intestinal symptoms. Similar to Paleo in its omission of all grains
and grain products, starchy vegetables like potatoes, and refined
sugars. Differs from Paleo in its allowance of dairy (albeit only
lactose-free cheeses and butter; homemade yogurt is recommended for
its probiotic effect) and *some* legumes (except soy and several
others).
