I haven't heard that children shouldn't be given flaxseed oil. Cod liver oil
is a source of long chain omega 3 fatty acids as well as vitamins A and D.
I'm not sure about it's SCFA content. I believe it has none but that the
long chain fatty acids can be converted to SCFA's as necessary.
