Hi all, I had a curious experience this morning and I'm wondering if
anyone else has had anything similar happen. I ate some wheat with
dinner last night after quitting all grains a few months ago. Then
today I looked at my arms and the skin was flushed and splotchy red,
which to me indicates evidence of an allergic reaction. It certainly
isn't normal for me. I also had some bowel discomfort. After I had
some breakfast, which I presume had the effect of moving last night's
dinner through my system a bit, the redness slowly faded away. Aside
from the wheat nothing I ate last night was out of the ordinary for me.
I quit grains because there was evidence that they are harmful to me,
but nothing as obvious as that. It almost seems like I'm more sensitive
now than when I was eating grains all the time. Is this possible? I
would think that I would become less sensitive when no longer exposed to
an allergen than I was when I was exposed to it all the time.
Just to be sure it was the wheat I figure I'll wait a few days, then eat
some more and see what happens but I'm pretty sure that was it. I have
no great desire nor any intent to add grains back into my diet
permanently, I'm just curious now.
TIA,
-Greg in Austin, TX
