I will try to find the exact source. I have seen it a couple of times. The
researchers factored out things like smoking and not eating fruits and
vegetables. In other words both diets and lifestyles were similar except
that one group ate meat.
Protean is very important for the immune system.
Sears has written about links to high insulin and cancer. Sears book the
"Anti-Aging Zone" is a great source about hormones and disease. The
Price-pottinger organization (does anyone know the web address) talked about
breast cancer vegetarian links.
The so called low fat/high carb diet that has been sold for the past 20 years
has created an increase in obesity that has been previously unheard of.
Hope this helps a little.

<< Dear Gawen,

Do you have a source to cite for your factoid? I am interested in this
correlation, having breast cancer myself, although I've never been a
vegetarian, but have for many years eaten little red meat but have eaten
 lotsa' pasta.

Of course there are always those dratted confounding variables----pesticides
 on the veggies, etc.

 Thanks, >>
