A friend who is not celiac suggested that I make my own vanilla extract
using some form of alcohol that I am allowed to consume. I'm not saying
that this is a good idea but rather asking if anyone else has tried
this. He suggested that perhaps I put some crushed vanilla beans in a
jar with some potato vodka, not sure of the proportions. Leave it sit
for a lengthy time such as a month and then strain out the bits of beans
leaving behind the extract...
Seems sensible enough as long as you use potato vodka or an alcohol that
does not contain a grain derived alcohol...
Any comments on this?
