Hi,
I was the person who recently asked you about getting a bone density
test done. I just got back from having a dexascan of the hip and spine
and was wondering if you can tell me what you think. First of all my
results are normal for my age and gender, but I don't understand the
numbers. A lot of you that had initially replied to me said you had a
certain %....I don't see that on my test printout.....am I at 120% for
my lumbar area?....and 101% for my hip?
I am a 41 yo female. Height 64 inches, 115 lbs. I have been "gf" and
"dairy" free for 2 yrs now. I was taking calcium supplements 2 yrs ago
(for about 8 months), but haven't taken "any" supplements (including
calcium) for over a yr. Osteoporosis runs in my family, as does
osteoarthritis.
I will be asking these questions of my Dr., but I find "you" to be so
much more helpful.
These are the results:
L2-L4 BMD (g/cm squared) 1.208
Young -Adult 101 (%) T-score .1
Age-Matched 105 (%) Z-Score .5
Left Femur BMD (g/cm squared) 1.013
Young-Adult 101 (%) T-score .1
Age-Matched 107 (%) Z-Score .5
What % am I at? How do I compare to other females with my age, height,
and weight? All comments are welcome, and thanks in advance for you
help.
