  Does the power light on the monitor come on?  Do the other power
indicators on the machine (lights, LEDs, fans, drives) come on?

  I've puzzled over how installing more RAM could cause your problem,
and the only possibility that springs to mind is that some (power?)
connection internally may have gotten knocked loose while you were
installing the RAM.  But that would likely affect more than just the
monitor -- in fact, the monitor would be likely to actually receive
power but no video signal.  [The fact that switching monitors didn't
help tends to support this theory.]
