This could be the result power management.  Try Disabling all of the advanced
power management in the CMOS and CONTROL PANEL.
In my experience with this, Power Management used to freeze up my old system
when it went into sleep mode(after sitting untouched for a while)  I wouldn't
be able to reawaken my system unless I rebooted.
