My guess is that Dectalk is a thing of the past. Eloquence (packaged with
JAWS) can use your internal sound card to produce top quality speech, and if
listening to music (or computer sounds) while using speech is a priority for
you, then consider the SoundBlaster Live! series multi-channel internal
sound card that will let you listen to them all at the same time. It costs
about $100 and is well worth the expense. I suggest that you check your
current sound card first, however, since it might handle more that one
channel. Both my PC (a Hewlett-Packard) and my laptop (a Toshiba) handle
more than one channel well.
Happy listening.

Subject: Query Abt. DEC and Modem

        Hello.

I wonder if anyone could suggest a solution for this situation.

You want to use a serial Dectalk which is connected to your only serial
port.
But you also want to connect your modem to to same port.

I have a switch box, but with it you have to choose either the modem
(without speech) or Dec (without the modem).

Anyideas?

I hope the solution is not to buy an internal modem.

Thanks for your ideas,

Lee
