"Talk" overview
eGroups "Talk" allows real-time voice conversations in group or
personal talk rooms. eGroups members can communicate privately within
their group's talk space. Talk rooms are great places to share ideas,
try out your latest jokes, or simply shoot the breeze -- without
typing on your keyboard. When your joke is a hit, you'll hear the
laughter. If you strike a chord with an insightful comment, you'll
have instant, audible feedback.
Every eGroup can have its own private talk room available only to
group members. Conversations in this talk room are only audible to
group members who are currently in the room. Private messages can be
sent to another group member with a right mouse click on the members
email address (or alias). You can select the private chat option, and
an invitation will be sent to the selected member. If the member
accepts your invitation, you will both be placed in a private talk
room.
Each eGroups user also has a personal talk room which can be reached
from their "my space" page. Personal talk rooms are a great way to set
up a live talk conversation with family and friends, but without
having to create an eGroup.
System Requirements
Your PC must meet the following system requirements to successfully
join a conference:
Operating System: Windows 95, Windows 98, or Windows NT 4.0.
CPU: Pentium 90 MHz or faster.
Network Connection: 28.8 Kbps (or faster) modem or high-speed LAN
Internet connection.
Web Browser: Microsoft Internet Explorer, version 3.02 or higher;
Netscape Navigator, version 3.0.4 or higher.
Sound card: Sound Blaster 16 compatible sound card or better.
Additional hardware: An audio headset, or microphone and
speakers/headphones.
