hi all

i have encountered the following problems with a RIVA TNT2 VANTA board, made
by some company called "MERIT"

1. installed on an Ali motherboard, it is crashing regularly. As i found out
later from ASUS, they specify that their boards are not compatible with ALI
chipset. ok, i can buy that, even if i didnt find that information on
www.nvidia.com
2. so i change the mainboard, switch to Intel BX 440 Chipset, board is
called P6LX7
and Celeron 466 PPGA processor. The client still complains that is locks up,
but he
said he got some viruses. ok, so i take the system, reinstall windows 98
from the very
beginning, try the board's drivers from CD, also the latest rivers from
www.nvidia.com, all seems ok with windows, but it still locks up when
running 3d applications. ok i say, he doesnt have original games, so maybe
this is the problem. i try running some micro$oft 3d simulator game (to be
as compatible as possible with the OS), and it locks up randomly, but very
often. you cant play more than 5-10 seconds. and this happends with directx
version 5, 6.0, 6.1, 6.4, 7.0. what next ? i have downloaded 3dbenchmark
from www.zdbop.com, version 1.2, and run it. it locks up at step 6 (Quality/
6/ Nearest)
and at any "user defined scene". Also after it locks, next boot it runs with
error at "Quality/ 4/ Z-Buffer" (the 2 polygons do not intersect).

any suggestions would be appreciated.
