Bill,

In your control panel, under modems, hilight your modem and click on
properties, in there should be a list of different speeds you can set your
modem at.. click on the down arrow to expand the list.. depending what it's
set at you might set it a bit higher then it's at now to increase your
connection speed. I also use a 56K, and my top speed when i connect to the
isp is usually 46,000 bps. I have my modem settings at 230400. hope this
