Hi List,
I am interested in learning about Red Hat Linux and my plan is to add an older hard drive (WD Caviar 2340, 340 MB) as a second hard drive on my HP PII 400, and then install Linux on that drive. Is this the best approach?

The old hard drive has a few sectors identified as bad by scandisk, and I hope to be able to low level format this drive so as to make the entire drive usable if possible. What utility should I use to accomplish this? Once again, I don't know if this is the best way to proceed, or even if the drive will be usable for much longer (its been in use since 93'). I have never attempted anything like this and I need all the advice I can get. Please help. Thanks in advance.
