How can I change the default install path for Windows 95 or 98?

There are two different machines that point to a no longer valid
drive/path. One was initially a network install, and the other had drives
shuffled when adding new drives/partitions.

When updating or installing hardware especially, the old default directory
pops up so often it is really annoying and a pain to change.

TIA
