I haven't gotten into working with USB yet.  My ASUS motherboard also
has a 5-pin by 2-pin connector with one pin missing.  Most of the cable
and port sets I've seen have the pair of 5-pin connectors.  I figured
that you would just connect one cable to each of the sets of 5-pins.  It
seems that you are saying that it is not that simple.  Also in my case,
I was wondering why the missing pin and if that would cause a problem.
Could you describe the two common hookups that you have mentioned and
explain how they work?
