Disappearing floppy drive

I haven't used my floppy drive A in a long time and the other day I went to use it
and it was gone!
I tried adding new hardware and then I noticed that I had a drive F and still no
drive A.

I went to the control panel and then to system where it showed that I had one
floppy drive.   I decided to  remove it and reinstall it.   However, I still end
up with F and and no A.  By the way, I can't access F.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
