I have a K6-233 that I am trying to install in a machine that is using a
California Graphics Photon 100 HC motherboard. Previously, I had this chip
in a FIC PA-2013 and it ran flawlessly. Now, when I transferred it ti the
Photon, making sure the jumpers were correct, the chip overheats very
quickly, until the motherboard's heat sensor sounds the alarm. It is set for
I think 120 degrees farenheit. Anyway, yes I am using a heatsink\fan, and
the case is off. As soon as I start the computer and go straight to the BIOS
setup, I can see the temperature rising steadily on the winbond monitoring
utility. My question is: What is the most likely cause of the chip
overheating: the clock frequency, voltage regulator, ram settings. Any help
would be much appreciated. Thank you,

Chuck Hassenplug
