Reminiscent of the cult classic _Christ in Concrete_ I've been contemplating
the modern rewrite to be called _Christ in EIFS_.
One scenario: a young woman from Russia apprentices to work as a laborer for
a panel systems company and learns the hard realities of capitalism, and the
still present vulgarities of male chauvinism in American construction, while
working installing EIFS panels at suburban strip malls. Eventually she
becomes expert with installing bird proofing. At the end of the novel, in a
surreal scene to rival Kafka's _Amerika_ ,we can have the mad BP
preservationeers raiding an EIFS worksite, throwing rocks and homemade pipe
bombs, as per Mr. West our neighbor suggests.
As to the last holiday, I spent a good portion of the time playing Railroad
Tycoon, Second Century, and having a hell of a time getting a railroad to
prosper out of Alice Springs. The Land Rover, alas, has no A/C. Cruising the
surf was out of the question. In fact, the house has no A/C. Between long
naps and fussing with overheated dogs and birds I read about astral
projection and the sociology of pool sharks. A word of advice, blow out your
chakras on a regular basis and make sure they are clean.
