Today, over 100 schools in the area are closed as we get about 2" of snow
an hour, so I'm stuck at home with the boys, spending my work day in email.
I just had to share a thread with y'all that I've been having.  I thought
it went along the same vein as this one.  I'm glad to see kids are
concerned with this stuff.

As a computer architect, I'm aware that it's very important to have the
basic infrastructure in place before mankind ('scuse me, personkind) can
progress.  Therefore, the plumbing requirements are extremely important.

However, as one who likes to see the bigger picture, I'm also aware that
whilst developing the infrastructure, people must eat in order to complete
the infrastructure.  Therefore, the feeding requirements are extremely
important.

This is a no-win situation, and consequently the team must be capable of
multi-tasking in order to achieve success.  However, rather than follow the
"Big-6" mega-buck consultants advice, they might want to consider
implementing their own real-world solution, considerably cheaper, just as
effective, and which will cater for all short to medium term requirements.
At that stage, they might then want to reconsider their options, and move
forward with the mega plan.  However, it's likely that requirements will
have changed by then and they will have saved themselves a fortune by
previously having implemented their own solution in less time and at
considerable savings.

Therefore, my recommendation is that the short-term fixes are implemented
as follows:

- For plumbing, several trees and bushes should be discretely placed, along
with Porta-Cabins for those that require enhanced privacy.
- For restaurants, Joe's Cafe should be built using a recycled barn or
something similar, along with a hot-dog and burger stand strategically
positioned (eg town square).

As the community develops, they will begin to see new and enhanced
requirements, significantly different to what they originally thought they
wanted!  Voila, you become instant heroes for saving the community's cash
(that's of course if you still have a job for having dared to pour scorn on
the Big-6 in the first place!).
